The Ministry of Education has recently issued a reminder that priority entry to Primary Schools is available only to those children whose parents were previously from that Primary School.

This qualifies them for entry under Phase 2A1 or 2A2 depending on whether their parents are also Alumni members. This means that students from the Secondary School or JC who had not previously been to the Primary School cannot send their sons to the Primary School under these priority phases.

The SAA has always been of the view that we are a ‘Village’ and that parents from any of the three schools who are located within the same campus should have some form of priority in getting their sons into the Primary School. The Ministry currently does not agree with us on this but perhaps in time, this may change.

In the meantime, however, the Junior School will of course have to comply with the Ministry’s directive.
