| Tan Teck Meng Photographic Competition and Exhibition |
|
Recently we mourn the loss of a true Saint, the late Mr. Tan Teck Meng. He was a loyal Saint and for several years, he has made his quiet presence at most St Andrew's functions, especially our rugby matches, using his photographic skills to record the events. Many of us who are recipients of Saints DYK would appreciate the pictures which he and Mr Yee Teck Peng had with great dedication regularly put together. Teck Meng has been able to capture the spirit of St Andrew's and is an inspiration to all our budding photographers at our school. His pictures helped us to preserve and perpetuate the great heritage and sense of history we have at St Andrew's. His legacy will live on in the lives of our young Saints. This comes at a very good time when the School is actually positioned to take on Photography both as an Art Form in our Centre of Excellence for Design as well as a Photography Club. A trophy named after Teck Meng will be very meaningful indeed. You might also like to know that before the rugby match yesterday between SAJC and ACJC in the playoff for the semi-finals in the Police Cup A Div, the players observed a minute of silence as a tribute to an old boy who had so faithfully recorded all our rugby matches. Incidentally, SAJC won 27-13. The Alumni is supporting this effort. We seek the support of the Saints to make this competition a reality. The support can be financial and in kind (cameras, photography accessories etc ) for the forthcoming Tan Teck Meng Competition & Exhibition. The plan is for this to be an annual event with the inaugural exhibition scheduled on Founder’s Day this year. Any contributions will be very much appreciated. The School will also gratefully accept sponsorships from photography equipment suppliers for this annual event. For more information, please write in to the Alumni at Gifts from the Heart.
